Subject: 4th furthur show
Picked up my buddy Bill and drove to my girlfriend, Rhonda's house where we drove to train station. She gave us directions on how to get back, and we got off train and there's a TON of hippies selling shit all up and down the street like Haight/Ashbury or something. I'd told my gf abt the scene, but she had to see to believe. Go to dinner w her and Bill, they play some Dead in the restaurant. Bill heads out to scope the scene and I spend some time with Rhonda after a fight the night before. Had a happy night. Waited on sidewalk outside with her for her dad to pick her up as Deadheads go up and down the block spoutin "Need one" Cops have road blocked, so Rhons dad picks her up up the road. I kiss her goodnite, very happily, smiling, feeling sun-shiney and walk into the venue right as the lights go down and hear the opening notes of "Here Comes Sunshine."

Hi from France!
I don't have the chance to live in usa, but as an old French Dead head since 1967,I appreciate those concerts and Road trips or Dicks picks from the Grateful Dead as well.....many thanks for allll...Robert

For takealittletrip: I love the post below from Chefry describing the interchange but to be serious for a minute, as I posted further below, I think Phil was just showing Bob how to do the end of Next Time You See Me" which was kind of blown. My post has a typo - meant to say he "put his bass back on to show Weir..." I was in the third row that night if that gives any creed to my wild guess. Seriously, no need for concern - just amusing. Listen to the music. Coincidence: I'm listening right now to that part of the show on the soundboards I got in the mail today. What a show.

Subject: The fight
At set break Phil pulled a big 10 or 12 inch hunting knife out from under his monitor and threw Bobby to the floor and held it to his neck and I'm not the best at reading lips but I am sure Phil said "dont ever step on my songs again!"
When Phil was walking away I saw Bobby jump up off the ground lika a possesed gazzell and grab a bottle of 1973 wine and bust it over Phils head. Bobby barked at Phil and said " get off my back bass boy"
But they came out second set and ripped it up, so I think everything is ok now.
That is what I saw, but I was also drinking kinda heavy that night....

Subject: Question to those who were there...
Unbelievable night again. Bringing that old feeling back for sure. Not to be begative but....The only question I had for those who attended, what was going on with Phil and Bobby at set break? There were rumors of Phil getting into it with John, but then that outburst with Bobby? Did anyone see it? Clarify? I sure hope it was nothing since, Furthur seems to have tapped into something great again. I really hope this never ends.... Thank you guys. We love you!

Subject: low vocals at venue, not only on recording
The vocals were hard to hear, even at my seat directly behind the soundboard. The sound guy was making adjustments the entire night to accomodate for the acoustics of that oddly shaped venue. He gradually increased the volume as the show went on until they found the sweet spot. The rest is history.

Do they play Oh! Darling as their 4th selection tonight?

Subject: very nice
JK's guitar on China Doll is tremendous. He certainly plays with passion. GD vet here attended my first show in 77. This band is fun and the vibe is great. Love the line up and the Bob & Phil get it. They are doing all of the fans a great service keeping the music alive. Keep it up boy's seeya in philly & nyc.

4 stars because of some murky vocal issues on the recording. Performance & play 5 stars

Subject: THANK YOU
Ive seen the dead once, furthur a few times, and dark star once or twice. While I have not been to many dead shows I have been to many many shows in general (I see about 100 a year). I was only semi into the grateful dead before this night. I enjoyed the music but never really had my whole heart into it. So I would like to thank Furthur for playing this epic show. The jams were so tight they melted my soul. I've already downloaded and listened to the show twice and it still is giving me goosebumps.

I would like to also, and perhaps even more, thank all you amazing people who made last night such an amazing experience. I danced with people of all ages and received smiles warmer then most hugs from others. I have never seen such an amazing collective of beautiful loving people.

I love you all and I will see you at the next show :)

Haven't been back since Jerry started to fade... John was a great addition and the show was awesome. The crowd rocked and the set list was a huge bonus. I'll be back!
